Saturn Series Talismans For Strength, Commitment and Authority

A rare opportunity presented itself on the Winter Solstice when Jupiter and Saturn joined to form what some have called The Star of Bethlehem. Some astrologers have coined this event, “The Great Conjunction” which happens every 20 years but even rarer does the element change when these two planets meet as it did this time from Earth to Air.

This moment offered a unique opportunity to create talismans with the intention of creating new structures, so whether that be a project, business, health routine, etc. These talismans were created with the intention of helping with commitment and discipline as well as gaining authority or expertise in any given endeavor. Saturn is also affiliated with the Hermit or Holy people and practices, so if you are looking to become spiritually disciplined, these talismans may be a good choice.

If you’re experiencing your 1st or 2nd Saturn Return, these talismans can be incorporated in ritual work or aid in achieving goals you set in regards to the area of your astrological chart that Natal Saturn resides.

Materials and invocations used align with invoking Saturn’s most helpful characteristics with the intent that anyone who carries or makes use of these items for good intentions gain discipline, become more responsible, builds a firm foundation and or spiritual practice.

The word Talisman comes from the Greek word, “telesma” meaning consecrated or sacred object, created with the intent of carrying a particular influence aligned with the powers imbued by the astrological election that marks their creation. Talismans are objects created at specific times or within certain ritual contexts for specific purposes.

No matter which Saturn Talisman you choose, the only difference is in the length of charge, not the strength. Paper talismans are temporary and may be effective for weeks or months. Fixed talismans are made of permanent materials and therefore permanent. The talismanic candle includes a permanent talisman that can be kept long after the candle has burned down.

The election details are as follows:

December 21, 2020 @ 1:54 PM in Hardinsburg, KY with Saturn and Jupiter applying to the Midheaven. Venus, ruler of the Ascendant sextiles Saturn and the Moon in Pisces’ next aspect will sextile Saturn. These items were also covered and left undisturbed for an entire lunar cycle to further strengthen their properties.

Even under the best planetary conditions, using materials that align with the planet invoked and with the best intentions, the recipient must also do their part to obtain the results intended. For this reason, success in achieving what you intend can’t be guaranteed, nor refunds issued.

1st Quarter Moon and Covid-19

Getty Image

Approximately 9 months ago, the reality of Coronavirus 19 hit home for most of us here in the United States. Headlines at that time focused on developing a vaccine. Chloroquine and Remdesivir were mentioned as possible treatments.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration began allowing more testing of drugs they felt might be effective against the virus as the world eagerly awaited the testing to begin.

Astrologically, March 24, 2020 marked a New Moon in Aries at 4 degrees 12 minutes. New Moons are interesting to watch as you often see a story piece together every 9 months that follow each phase until a complete moon cycle has finished.

New Moons are like the beginning of something. A seed is planted. We don’t really know which direction it’s going until some time has passed. As the Moon takes on more light, we can better see how things are looking. So, with this New Moon back in March of 2020, there was focus on developing a vaccine and we really didn’t know how, when or if it might happen.

Nine months later on December 21, 2020 we have the 1st Quarter Moon in Aries and the general public is beginning to receive the vaccine for the first time. 1st Quarter Moons are about taking action and moving forward with something. Nine months ago we were just discussing a vaccine. Today, we’re distributing it.

In 9 more months with the Full Moon on September 20, 2021 we should know even more. Full Moons bring clarity. More about the vaccine or the virus in general will be revealed.

Full Moons also mark the culmination of things so hopefully by that time, we’ll start to see a significant reduction of cases or know more about this virus and the success of the vaccine in preventing new cases. All cards are on the table in the Full Moon phase. It should become even clearer which direction this is going at that time.

New Moon Sagittarius Eclipse December 14, 2020.

This New Moon Eclipse is at 23 degrees and 8 minutes of Sagittarius and occurs at 10:16 AM Central Time on December 14th. The root energy in the date of this Moon is 12–Surrender.

This Eclipse is also close to the South Node in Sagittarius and makes a pleasing aspect to Mars in Aries. , also in a Fire sign so there is a feeling of severing or letting go of outworn beliefs and ideologies that no longer work or serve your highest good. New Moons are beginnings in a sense but this one is also an Eclipse and on the South Node. It’s a new beginning related to letting go in order for something new to come in. The South Node can also be seen as an “emptying out.” This could translate as a spiritual awakening of sorts, letting go and surrendering. It’s also interesting to note that this eclipse occurs on the day of the Electoral College in the United States, possibly indicating a surrender/release of some sort in order for something new to come in.

Sagittarius is mutable fire energy. Picture the flame of a candle flickering about. Sagittarius is a sign of beliefs, philosophies and vision. Mutable energy indicates change. What beliefs do we need to let go of in order to move forward in creating a new vision? What goals need to be reset and what are the steps needed to achieve them?

To help give some ideas about this archetype, Sagittarius rules the quest for truth, prayer and higher guidance, frankness and honesty, religion, philosophy, beliefs, foreigners, higher learning and finding solutions to name a few.

Since this New Moon is an Eclipse, I don’t recommend setting New Moon Intentions or participating in any New Moon Rituals. Eclipse energy is too unreliable. You don’t really know how it will manifest but I do like to look at the symbolism. The symbolism gives clues as to what might come in for the collective and for you personally if you know where to pinpoint this in your chart.

In closing, the degree of this New Moon coincides with the Sabian Symbol, “A Bluebird Standing At The Door Of The House.” Historically, Bluebirds have been seen as good omens. A symbol that good fortune is at your door. Living morally and with integrity allows you to move forward unhindered. This symbolism denotes the promise of happiness.

James Burgess interprets this symbol to mean, “there are rewards for those who manage both to blend into the community and yet still maintain their own style of being. These rewards tend not to be measured by things or money but by nuances of beauty and contentment, that which makes us sing spontaneously as we are pottering around at home.”

Burgess says that “the most helpful attitude – by which we not only reap the rewards but also stimulate further abundance – is radiant goodwill. We shine our complete sense of confidence and wellbeing upon all who enter our lives. This is the operation of faith, and it has operating principles. One is the knowledge of resonance; if we vibrate optimism we will attract optimal outcomes. From this comes the Golden Rule, which we can interpret in many ways – ‘what goes round comes round’, ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’, or karma for example. Good fortune is not random chance – those who make careful choices and stick tenaciously to their path tend to attract it.”

Scorpio New Moon November 14, 2020.

This New Moon is at 23 degrees and 18 minutes of Scorpio and occurs at 11:07 PM Central Time on November 14, 2020. The root energy in the date of this Moon is 20/2–Relationship, Duality, Cooperation.

This Scorpio New Moon makes a pleasing aspect to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn. The Ancients called this aspect a Sextile. It’s kind of like these planets are holding hands in friendship if they make the effort. Cooperation is needed, but the potential exists to get along and work together. So, the Sun and Moon coming together form a new beginning but in Scorpio that won’t be all unicorns and rainbows.

There will be some difficult things that need to be brought out and dealt with. Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn want to dig deep into what isn’t working anymore in the old structure and Jupiter is keen on building a structure built on a new vision. However, Saturn may be a bit stubborn and prefer to keep things the way they are. If this new vision is built on a solid foundation there is potential for two sides (Sextile Aspect) to begin discussing some deep rooted issues (Mercury in Pluto) that need to be worked through so that healing (Pluto) can begin. Mars, the ruler of Scorpio just stationed direct the day before so while this is positive, it may take some time to see results. Mars is still moving slow right now and the planets that this New Moon aspects are ruled by Saturn. Saturn loves to take his sweet time before committing but that’s just because he wants to make sure he’s backing something that is solid.

Scorpio is Fixed Water energy. Picture stagnant water. In Scorpio, still waters run deep and stagnant water requires sifting through some murky stuff and cleaning the pool before it’s fit to swim in. This New Moon has the potential for teamwork but some toxins need to be cleaned up before it feels safe to drink.  New Moons are ideal for planting seeds. What is possible together?

If you want to work consciously with this energy, this is the beginning of a new cycle, so now would be an ideal time to take part in this process. I like to keep a journal and track this cycle which takes about 27 months to complete.

Here are some practical tips to help work with this New Moon:

  1. Within 8 hours of the Scorpio New Moon on November 14, 2020 (again, the time is 11:07 PM if you’re in the Central Time Zone) jot down your New Moon Wishes in your journal. I like to keep a separate “Moon Journal” for the entire 27 month process.
  2. I usually write at least three wishes or intentions but no more than 10 which tends to dilute the energy. It’s also important to hand write your wishes.
  3. Find the area of your chart where Scorpio rules and tailor your thoughts around the themes of this house as well as the archetype of Scorpio. This allows you to work with this energy and makes it personal to you.

To help give some ideas about this archetype, Scorpio rules power, politics, psychology, self-mastery, finances and crisis skills to name a few.

Let your intentions revolve around transforming power struggles into cooperation. Eliminating old baggage, forgiveness and restoration. Think about what steps you can take to work on areas of your life that need healing to include mental health, self-discipline, jealousy, obsessive compulsive disorders, suspicion, self-mastery or managing finances. If you know where Scorpio sits in your natal chart, think about the topics of this House as well as where your Mars resides. These themes can all tie in with the Scorpio archetype when thinking about what you want to achieve in this area over the next 27 months.

This is not a time of action but a time for planting.  Think about what you want to create until we can better see what comes to light with the next Quarter Moon in Scorpio on August 15, 2021 at 23 degrees.

In closing, the degree of this New Moon coincides with the Sabian Symbol, “Crowds Coming Down The Mountain To Listen To One Inspired Man.” This speaks to a large number of people receiving a message. Some will resonate with what they hear. Others won’t. Inherent is a scene mirroring the idea of relationship and working through differences as I mentioned earlier. There is potential for unity but how will the message be received? This might be something to contemplate and work into the New Moon intentions you set at this time.

Take The High Road…Venus and Mercury Rx Move Into Libra Today.

We have a little gift today in that Venus moves out of a sign that makes it hard for her to do Venusian things and into Libra, a sign where she feels right at home and can deliver the goods. Venus wants to connect, socialize and bring sweet little indulgences. Libra wants everyone to be happy. Just a few minutes later, Mercury Rx joins her and this makes for easier conversations. There is more need for harmony and cooperation, so hopefully this softens some tense situations where we’ve felt like it’s me against you. With these two planets moving into Libra, we should see more discussion about equality and doing the right thing—hopefully focused on working together.

If you think about my reading this morning about avoiding conflict and taking the high road, these two planets moving into Libra play right into that, focusing more on getting along rather than separation and highlighting our differences. In any case, this shift in energy occurs around 8:41 PM CST today. By then, both planets will have moved into Libra. If you need to have a difficult conversation with someone, it might be advisable to wait until after these planets have changed signs. This could help soften words and bring in more understanding and consideration to the table.
